Though showing its age, BodySpace remains a rather special place. Despite its glitches, thousands of users enjoy and rely upon this platform daily.
One has to assume most of the glitches are due to a lack of platform upkeep and maintenance.
The
neglect of BodySpace appears to be intentional.
The BodyFit platform is the new darling taking front and center stage.
Nonetheless,
I don’t think I am alone in preferring BodySpace to the newer BodyFit app. Which do you prefer?
What do I love most about BodySpace?
Building/Tracking
Workouts
One
of my favorite things about BodySpace is having the ability to build and track custom
workouts. On top of that, I can build
and track programs for my clients too!
Best of all, anyone can access and use all the workouts and programs created on the BodySpace platform. How cool is that?
Sharing
The FitPost and FitBoard features allow users to share tips and just about anything else under the sun with the entire community.
I believe that FitPosts may be exclusive to the Mobil application. In contrast, FitBoard entries appear to be a function of the desktop version of BodySpace. For some reason, you cannot read or open FitPosts on the desktop application – it just doesn’t work.
Friends
& Accountability
The social and sharing aspects are also two of my favorite BodySpace features. In contrast, to my knowledge, BodyFit does not have any social/sharing functions.
When I switched to BodySpace for tracking workouts, something unique happened.
Suddenly, I felt more accountable.
Posting sets, reps, and poundages while tracking workouts from my home gym was holding me accountable. It gave me a sense that I was no longer working out in isolation, especially during the lockdown.
Just like that, I had an audience and a community of friends watching everything I did at my gym!
These are just a few of the things that I love about the platform. BodySpace offers much more than I’ve mentioned here. That perhaps I will leave for another post.
Will the Lights Go Out on BodySpace?
I
certainly hope not. In time, however,
one could imagine it collapsing under its weight from a lack of upkeep.
What then? Where will we find all of the friends we made? How will we continue to share our collective journeys? Will BodyFit ultimately replace BodySpace?
Plausible
Plan-B
A back-up plan might be setting up Facebook groups where BodySpace users can gather
with their friends.
That
would help take the bite out of a worst-case scenario, but it by no
means would be a replacement for all that BodySpace provides.
To
wrap up, let’s hope that BodySpace gets the maintenance it needs to survive long
into the future.
In the meantime, I’ll take a leap of faith in putting together a Plan-B. You can find the link to my brand new
Facebook Group here.
Long Live
BodySpace!
Until
Next Time,
-Coach Joe
